It had been seven months since I last saw my family. So, for the fourth of July I took a road trip with my roommates back up to Truckee to spend a quiet weekend playing with my nephew and relaxing with my other relatives.

I also managed to get drunk in downtown Reno’s burn-your-face-off heat tasting home brewed beers.

I’ve got lots of pictures and thoughts to share on the short vacation, but for now I’m exhausted and just want to post one great photo of my brother Brad and his newest armor fabrication. He’s creating another Halo costume, this time copying the latest designs from the Halo: Reach video game. I snapped this shot with my sexy black iPhone 4 and touched it up in Aperture 3.

The armor is made entirely of foam which he carves to be an almost exact replica using nothing more than printed out screen grabs from the video game. Hell, the game’s still in beta and he’s about ready to move on to carving the chest and arm pieces. By the time the game launches he’ll be in full costume ringing you up at Truckee’s Game Stop. Now that’s awesome nerdery.
